Morocco's Fight Against Terrorism and Extremism is Appreciated Worldwide

Morocco's leading role in the fight against terrorism and extremism is appreciated worldwide, Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj said on Monday in Rabat.

Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, has succeeded in combining stability and development, said Swaraj in a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, noting that the Kingdom, thanks to its exceptional strategic location, plays an international role and has distinguished relations with other countries.

Swaraj stressed the need of establishing a three-dimensional economic cooperation involving India, Morocco and African countries, recalling the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to India, during the 3rd India-Africa Forum, which gave momentum to bilateral relations

For his part, El Malki highlighted the bonds of friendship between India and Morocco, which also have close historical ties, emphasizing the joint work carried out within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

After highlighting that the Moroccan people appreciate the peaceful struggle led by the Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi for independence, Mr. El Malki hailed India's development in various fields, describing the country as "a rising force contributing to safety of the Indian Ocean and the rest of the world ".

he underlined that the relations between the two countries had registered a qualitative leap since the visits of HM King Mohammed VI to India in recent years, expressing the hope that both sides will consolidate their political dialogue and establish a multidimensional strategic partnership. He praised India's positive position on the question of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

Similarly, he recalled the key role of HM the King, as Commander of the Faithful, in the consolidation of a tolerant, moderate and equitable Islam and in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

At the parliamentary level, Mr. El Malki reiterated the desire to strengthen cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries, referring to the formation in the House of Representatives of the Morocco-India Parliamentary Friendship Group.

MOROCCO-INDIA : SIGNING OF FOUR COOPERALTION AGREEMENTS

Following the visit of Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to Morocco on 17 and 18 February, Four Memoranda of Understanding were inked by both countries.

These four MOUs, signed following Nasser Bourita's talks with Ms. Swaraj, focus on the areas of counter-terrorism, housing, youth and the facilitation of business movements between the two. Country.

A Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a security cooperation working group, the exchange of information concerning any development in the field of the fight against terrorism, as well as consultation on issues related to the fight against terrorism in the United Nations and other specialized agencies was signed.

In the field of Housing, Mr. Bourita and the Indian Minister of External Affairs initialed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of National Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Housing Policy of the city and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of India, aiming to establish bilateral cooperation through the exchange of expertise, especially in technological innovation, technical construction, housing construction anti-Semitic construction, strategic planning, smart cities, as well as sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs, aimed at broadening and strengthening bilateral relations in the field of youth through the participation of young people from both countries in the events and youth activities organized by both parties, was signed by the two ministers.

On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Moroccan and Indian governments on the mutual simplification of business visa issuing was also signed, in keeping with the principle of equality and reciprocity, for the benefit of businessmen and investors from both sides wishing to undertake commercial transactions and explore the opportunities of import and export of industrial products. The above MoU aiming to facilitate the movement of some nationals of both countries, will help grant, s per the examination procedures of "case by case, a visa with a validity of 12 months with multiple entries.

MOROCCO-INDIA: ONGOING ANTI-TERRORIST PARTNERSHIP

Morocco and India will ink a Memorandum of Understanding in the fight against terrorism, the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, who is on an official visit to Morocco, informed.

In her address to the Indian Community in Rabat, Swaraj stated that : “ Morocco is a leader in the fight against terrorism and a pioner against extremism. We will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the above fields with a view to strengthening our bilateral cooperation.
